“Not a single bee has ever sent you an invoice. And that is part of the problem – because most of what comes to us from nature is free, because it is not invoiced, because it is not priced, because it is not traded in markets, we tend to ignore it.”
– Pavan Sukhdev, United Nations report, The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity.
Connecting Me and You to the Quote
Hello from New England. Cathy, here. I love the quote above because it graciously embraces how I feel about blogging.
As a lifelong, but not-so-famous writer with lots to share, it speaks to me. In this mammoth online world, it’s easy to feel lost and ignored.
Yet, I believe every voice is essential because individually, we share an important role in the collective result.
No, you cannot put a price on my mission to enlighten the masses through words. However, that in no way devalues this significant task.
Therefore, just like the little creature and as the name of my blog suggests … I am a humble bee carrying out my natural desire to deliver some cool content to the world.
The quote about bees likely resonates with many of you not-so-famous but compassionate writers.
You blog to heighten our day with knowledge, laughter, curiosity, beauty, optimism, and love.
You might not even recognize how you seriously rock the world with your diverse compositions. Take a bow, fellow keepers of the words … take a bow!
What you’ll find at humblebees.net
When it comes to writing I don’t have a particular niche focus. I blame that on my Gemini cosmic interest in just about everything going on around me. It’s a blessing and curse.
My writing interests and subject knowledge are broad, but small business, family, life, travel, and odd news are my favorite topics. My blog is new but it’s a sincere work in progress.
I’ll buzz about helpful articles centered on running a small business, funny and heartwarming stories about family, New England, odd and/or comical news from around the world, my travel adventures, and topics which may strike a chord with me on any given day .
I dabble in poetry. Poetry is something I’ve studied for the past few years. There’s a lot to learn because poetry is an art.
You’ll find some great posts by guest authors along the way too. Oh, and I have thought-provoking tales of the paranormal and afterlife to share.
Those Pesky Rating Stars
Don’t be afraid to click the little rating stars on my articles. You see, I put them there so I’ll know what you like or what you think is blah. The stars are a window to my work. I think of them as tiny inorganic editors.
One or two stars are a wake-up call that I need to improve my post topics or formatting, grammar, and punctuation aren’t up to snuff. Lots of stars indicate I can uncork the bubbly and celebrate a job well done. No stars mean I better not quit my day job, yet.

Snippets of Me
Small Business Owner
My life in a nutshell: I’ve been a small business owner in distribution, sales, and service for 23 years now. My husband is my business partner.
Yes, a husband and wife team can work side-by-side, but it takes a ton of patience and understanding to build a successful and enduring partnership.
My husband is outstanding at running a business. He keeps me grounded so he’s the best partner I could ever want.
After several years of trial and error, lots of cussing and “I QUIT” scenes; we created a perfect balance between marriage and work.
Writing has been a major piece of my life and my supreme passion since I was a young girl. For 10 years, I worked as a news correspondent, reporter and a freelance Columnist at several daily newspapers.
For eight years, I’ve been a contributor at several websites. Currently, I’m on the editorial and administration team at two writing sites.
A Few of My Favorite Things
I love spaghetti, tacos, football, and travel. I have an obsessive affinity to everything pirates. I wouldn’t be surprised if a past-life regression revealed that in another life I was the infamous female pirate, Anne Bonny.
I loathe drama, people who cut the line, being late, the gigantic lack of manners in society, and calamari.
I relish early (I’m talkin’ before the break of dawn) Sunday mornings. I own hundreds and hundreds of books. Old books and book shops are the ultimate hobby.
To relax, my husband and I, head out for long rides on his Harley; for a few hours we pretend we haven’t any responsibilities and no one to answer to. I love New England, which has been my lifelong home.
I’m blessed with awesome, loving daughters. They’re my best friends. My four grandchildren live 15 minutes in any direction. And they are my world, too.
Thank you for popping in here. I hope we cross paths on the WordPress.com community highway.
